Hi. I’m Jo – soldier of Christ, wife, daughter, sister, friend. Welcome to A Journey in Diligence. Or maybe I should say my journey in diligence.

I was raised with the concept of “diligence” – at this point, it’s practically inscribed on my brain . It was just in the last ten years or so that the word itself has been prominent in my family’s vocabulary, but my parents raised me to value hard work and the effort it takes to do it. “Diligence” is to do something with deliberate and full effort – to the best of your ability. It should be present in every facet of our lives. 2 Timothy 2:15; Colossians 3:23-24 Everything can and should be done diligently.

I find it encouraging to see the progress of others. It bolsters me and gladdens my heart to see other people doing the things I aspire to do and sharing their hard-won knowledge, and it gives me some hope that the struggles I’m facing aren’t unique and have been faced and conquered by someone else. Since I find that helpful, I decided I wanted to pass that along.

I have no reservoir of knowledge ready to pour out and bless you with. I have no aged wisdom from decades of living (yet; that is the goal to achieve someday, Lord willing). All I have is my day to day experience of living, and what it looks like trying to do my all in my little corner of the world. From home-making ventures to discussion of spiritual concepts and matters to gardening to trying to change health and lifestyle habits, I want to have a record of my progress – the highs and the lows – and if there is anything to be gained by it, I want to share it with you. You may not be a newly-married working woman in your mid-twenties like me (or maybe you are), but you are human. (Right? Bots are a thing – if you’re a bot reading this, no one likes you and you aren’t wanted here. Shoo!) And so am I. My prayer is that this journal feeds my desire to learn and share what I learn, and that it serves you in some way. If nothing else, maybe you’ll be entertained by my pitfalls, foul-ups, and weak justifications. It’s all part of the journey, and I’d love it if you joined me on it.

Some scriptures to contemplate, if you’re so inclined: Romans 14:19 “Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.” 1 Thessalonians 5:8-11 “But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”

In Christian love, Jo.
