Hello there! I am so excited to be doing my first monthly wrap up post. March was full to bursting for me, and there is so much to tell, both here and in future individual posts.

The diet is going strong. We had a handful of blunders/”things got hectic so we ate convenient” situations, but the majority of the month, we have kept to it. We both feel our energy starting to pick up and stretch further, and my inflammation is way down, which is always a good sign. I’m so glad to have all this energy on the horizon for spring, Lord willing.

Organization projects have slowed – my husband’s job has ramped up in demand of his time and energy, so the main focus has been rest and recovery and keeping his energy up and both of us sane, lol. Being newly married, it’s been a ride learning how to navigate that while also learning how to communicate and keep this busy time from disconnecting us. I am confident it will be a life-long effort, learning those lessons, and we have gotten a fair taste of them this month. For me, I’ve been adjusting how important I hold keeping the house in “perfect” order, learning how to balance meeting his needs in a heavier time while not neglecting mine, and learning what is actually involved in a peaceful home versus an idyllic one. Turns out, it’s simpler than I gave it credit for (surprise, surprise). The house is perfectly acceptable for where we are, the two of us are growing closer, and we are taking one day at a time.

I took a self-defense course that qualified me to get my concealed carry license. The actual getting of the license is still in the works, but I have proven myself capable of safely handling firearms and am eager to move to the next phase. As I alluded to in this month’s first post, I’ll be sharing my experience with that and my journey with firearms at some point, when I have it all collected enough to put into words. It’s been interesting.

Besides all of that, we got the first seeds in our garden sown! It’s gotten cold again, so I’m hoping they are slow sprouting so they don’t get hurt. I’ve never felt so affectionate or motherly toward plants in my life. (And yet, I can’t seem to remember to water them. Weird.) Here in a few weeks, we will sow a few more things, and by mid-to-late April, we should have all of them in the dirt and, hopefully, some of them poking up little green heads.

A fun extra thing we got to do this month was see Dune Part Two in the theaters. Wow! Gorgeous and immersive visuals, compelling and gripping plot, and a fantastic score to top it off. Beautiful work, the kind of movie that seems more and more rare these days. I haven’t been so invested in a movie’s story since, probably, sometime around Avengers: Endgame. The story was really well adapted, I thought, and the main crux of the story kept intact and leaned into expertly. It continues perfectly from the ground work laid out so well in Part One, and it was a joy to experience. I have a notion to write some posts on movies and other media, potentially, because I LOVE talking about this stuff and sharing the ones that I love and why. So, keep an eye out for some of those in the future. No idea when. (I’m kinda winging this whole thing. Shh! Don’t tell anyone.)

So, as the main focus of the month of March was health and housekeeping, I’d say it was a success. We are healthier, and the house was kept, even if it wasn’t at all in the way that I had planned or anticipated. We had some fun experiences and spent time with friends and family, and have received some glimpses of the strains that can be put on a marriage relationship in busy times. It’s my first month with this blog project, and I am already seeing how different my month can look from the original proposed plan/mission statement. The Lord is taking very good care of my husband and I, giving us cushions while we get our budget in check, learn about living with and loving each other, and bearing our individual daily strifes and struggles all the while.

Thank you for reading! I look forward to planning and then comparing our April, and sharing all of that with you. My passage I’d like to leave with you for the week is Proverbs 3:1-14. A beautiful picture of the life lived in faith in Jehovah. It’s been a good reminder for me and will continue to be so.

In Christian love, Jo.
